How to update Shopify prices from a supplier price list.
Your supplier changed their prices again. Here are the three realistic ways to get the new prices into Shopify, and when each one stops being good enough.

Short answer
You can update Shopify prices from a supplier price list by (1) editing the Shopify product CSV export and re-importing it, (2) using the bulk editor for a handful of products, or (3) using a sync tool such as OhoSync that reads the supplier file, applies your markup and updates prices on a schedule. The first two work for small catalogues; past a few hundred products or monthly price changes, an automatic sync with price-jump checks is safer.
1. Re-import a Shopify CSV
Export your products from Shopify, paste the new supplier costs next to them in a spreadsheet, calculate your price with a formula, copy the result into the Variant Price column and import the file again.
Good for: a one-off change on a small catalogue. Watch out for: the import matches on the product handle, so a renamed product can be duplicated, and a formula error goes live on every row at once with nothing to stop it.
2. The bulk editor
Select the products in Shopify admin, open the bulk editor and type the new prices. Fine for ten products. Error-prone for a hundred, and it does not know what the supplier's cost is.
3. An automatic sync from the supplier file
A sync tool keeps the supplier file as the source of the cost and your rule as the source of the price. With OhoSync:
- Connect your Shopify store.
- Add the supplier's price list: upload the CSV or Excel file, or paste the link.
- Match their columns once: SKU, cost, stock, image.
- Set your markup and rounding, for example 60% and prices ending in 90.
- Run a preview: read which prices would change, from what to what, and why.
- Run it, and switch on scheduled updates if your plan includes them.
The difference that matters is what happens when the file is wrong: a price that jumps further than you allow is held on that product, and a file that has lost a large part of its rows stops the update.
Which one to choose
| Situation | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Under 50 products, prices change once a year | Bulk editor |
| A few hundred products, one big change | CSV re-import, checked carefully |
| Prices or stock change monthly or more often | Automatic sync |
| Several suppliers, or supplier prices in another currency | Automatic sync |
Questions
Can Shopify update prices from a supplier file on its own?
Shopify can import a CSV in its own product format, but it does not read a supplier's price list, apply a markup or run on a schedule. That needs an app or an external service.
How do I avoid publishing a wrong price?
Use a price floor and a maximum allowed change per update, and preview before going live. In OhoSync, a price outside those limits is held on that product instead of published.
